Overall COE quota for Nov 24 to Jan 25 up 3.6%; mainstream car quota up 5.6%


THE overall quota for Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) available for the period November 2024 to January 2025 has increased 3.6 per cent or by 551 to 15,834, compared with the preceding three-month period of August to October 2024.

The quota for all individual categories increased except for motorcycles, which stayed the same, with the categories used to register commercial vehicles and mainstream cars seeing the largest rises.

Category C, used to register commercial vehicles and buses, posted the biggest gain of 8.3 per cent or 108 to 1,407.

Category A, used to register mainstream passenger cars, increased 5.6 per cent or by 326 to 6,190.

Category B, for larger and more powerful cars, was up 2 per cent or by 80 at 4,060.

Category E, the open category that can be used to register any type of vehicle except for motorcycles, increased 3.6 per cent or by 37 to 1,072.

Category D, for motorcycles, remained the same at 3,105.

The Land Transport Authority continued its cut-and-fill policy of bringing forward guaranteed future deregistrations and adding them to the current supply of COEs.

Cut-and-fill additions have been increased this time around.

Categories A, B and D received cut-and-fill additions of 1,390, 1,060, and 865, respectively, compared with 1,100, 800, and 493 in the previous quota period.
