NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu commenced its comprehensive orientation program for the new academic year at its modern campus in Jagti. The event marked the induction of several batches, including the 5th Batch of Ph.D., the 3rd Batch of Ph.D. (WP), the 9th Batch of MBA, the 3rd Batch of MBA (HA&HM), and the 4th Batch of EMBA.Renowned Yoga Guru Shri Sahil Mehra initiated the proceedings with a yoga session themed “Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness,” aiming to set a positive tone for the students’ academic journey.
Chief Guest Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Science & Technology and MoS PMO, Government of India, inaugurated the orientation program after an extensive tour of the campus. He highlighted IIM Jammu’s evolution into a leading educational institution, emphasizing its pivotal role in shaping future leaders. Dr. Singh underscored the importance of collaboration among educational institutions for mutual growth and innovation.
He remarked, “From struggling to find faculty in its early days, IIM Jammu now enrolls over 500 students each year. It has come a long way in a short time.” He emphasized that establishing IIM Jammu is a significant step towards realizing the dream of providing quality education and producing leaders who will drive the nation towards unprecedented growth, aiming for a developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Milind Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, encouraged students to take charge of their educational journey and seize opportunities with confidence. The orientation program also featured insightful talks by Prof. Shakti Gupta, Director, AIIMS Jammu, and Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, emphasizing empathy, innovation, and pursuing one’s passion.
The day concluded with various sessions focusing on academic rigor, pedagogy, and campus life expectations, ensuring students are prepared for their intensive educational journey at IIM Jammu.
