The Ministry of Education announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024, its ninth annual edition on August 12, 2024. This framework evaluates Indian higher education institutions in five critical areas: Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR); Research and Professional Practices (RPC); Graduation Outcomes (GO); Outreach and Inclusivity (OI); and Perception (PER).In the medical category of NIRF rankings 2024, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (AIIMS) has bagged the first position followed by the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research at second and Christian Medical College at third. Interestingly, 3 medical colleges in Maharashtra have secured decent positions in the top 50. Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth is leading in the Maharashtra medical colleges category, followed by Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research and Armed Force Medical College. In NIRF rankings 2024, Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune secured 5th place in the Dental category, 11th in the Medical category, and 44th in the University category across India. In the medical category, it has accomplished an impressive score of 64.10. On July 6th, 2023, the college was honored with the prestigious QS I-GAUGE Diamond Rating Certificate.
Established by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, as per the notification dated January 11, 2003, Dr. D. Y. As reported in the Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth NIRF Report, the median salary for UG 5-year placements in 2021 was INR 12.25 LPA. Out of the 230 students, 219 were successfully placed, while 11 chose to pursue further studies. Additionally, for PG 3-year placements in 2022, the median salary offered was INR 22.1 LPA.

Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHER)

DMIHER, previously known as Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (DMIMS), has been making notable strides. According to the NIRF 2024 report, the median salary for undergraduate students of the institute during the 5-year placements in 2022 was INR 13.8 lakh per annum (LPA). For postgraduate students during the 3-year placements in 2023, the median salary was INR 17.4 LPA. Both undergraduate and postgraduate placements recorded a 100% placement rate for the respective years.
In comparison, the NIRF report from 2022 indicated that in 2021, DMIMS placed 450 undergraduate and 268 postgraduate students. The median salary for undergraduate students ranged from INR 4.2 LPA to INR 10.8 LPA, while for postgraduate students, it was between INR 12.24 LPA and INR 14.4 LPA.

Armed Force Medical College (AFMC)

Securing the 30th place in the NIRF rankings 2024 with a notable score of 57.68, AFMC is a leading medical institution in India, recognized for its excellence in education and research. It offers training programs for undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing students, with career opportunities in the defence services.
Established on May 1, 1948, based on the recommendations of the BC Roy Committee, AFMC was formed by merging various defense medical organizations. The college’s Graduate Wing was inaugurated on August 4, 1962, to ensure a consistent supply of medical officers for the Indian Armed Forces. Currently, AFMC is affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and is accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC) to offer undergraduate and various postgraduate medical programs.
