SINGAPORE – If you’re a subscriber to The Business Times (BT), you may have noticed something new in your e-mail inbox earlier today: the first issue of our Big Money newsletter.
Big Money represents a few “firsts” for BT; it’s our first subscriber-only newsletter and our first newsletter to cover financial markets, with a focus on private markets.
Written by senior correspondent Joan Ng, who was previously BT’s news editor, it offers an exclusive weekly analysis of the sector’s latest developments and trends
“Making money in financial markets requires eyes and ears to collect information, and multiple perspectives from which to assess it. The more perspectives you have, the more useful your intelligence will be,” she says, describing Big Money’s potential value to BT subscribers.
Growing slate of daily and weekly offerings
Big Money joins BT’s growing slate of weekly and daily newsletters, which together cover areas ranging from ESG and property to the regional economy and financial content for young audiences.
As a subscriber-only newsletter – with more to come later this year – Big Money is also part of our effort to improve the value of BT’s subscription package.

“Beyond curating a lineup of our stories and offering analyses of the latest business news, BT’s newsletters are also a means for us to encourage our readers and subscribers to develop a habit of reading BT’s journalism,” says Chan Cheow Pong, BT’s executive editor.
“We hope to launch more subscriber-only newsletters in the future as we strive to become more audience-centric by offering BT journalism through a channel that our subscribers are familiar with. The email connection also allows us to engage on a deeper, more personal level with them, which will be useful in improving our content,” he adds.
