THE Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) on Friday (Feb 21) announced that JTC Corporation will appoint a new chief executive officer.
Jacqueline Poh, managing director at Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB), will replace JTC’s current CEO Tan Boon Khai as he leaves to pursue other interests, said MTI.
Poh will be appointed CEO-designate on Mar 1, and assume the top role from Apr 1.
“Already part of the MTI family, Jacqueline has a deep understanding of investor needs, which will help in her new role to develop attractive and innovative industrial land and spaces,” said Jeffrey Siow, second permanent secretary for MTI.
In its statement, the ministry noted that during Poh’s 3.5-year tenure as managing director of EDB, she “led the organisation to achieve strong investment commitments as Singapore’s economy recovered from the Covid-19 pandemic. This included record investment commitments in 2022 surpassing EDB’s targets”.
Her accomplishments came amid a “challenging global operating environment marked by technological disruption, global tax reforms, and geopolitical uncertainties impacting business decisions”, MTI added.

Poh was also CEO of GovTech, and is currently a board member of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research. She will also be appointed as a member of the JTC board in an ex officio capacity.
Tan will step down from the role of JTC CEO on Mar 31, said MTI.
During his 4.5 years in the position, he “led JTC in delivering a number of Covid-19 response measures in industries that were critical to the overall national effort to stay resilient and to recover strongly”, the ministry said. It added: “He then went on to spearhead a series of transformations to advance Singapore’s industrial make-up and to support growth of new industry clusters.”
Under his leadership, JTC completed “next-generation industrial estates” such as Punggol Digital District, as well as key industrial buildings. He also led the push to build new estates such as the Jurong Innovation District and Woodlands North Coast, noted MTI.
