GetGo, Charge+ to provide shared EVs and charging points in 100 condos by 2025

GETGO and Charge+ have entered into a partnership to supply 100 condominiums in Singapore with shared electric vehicles (EVs) and charging stations by 2025.

In a joint media release on Monday (Jul 29), both parties said the collaboration would make EVs more accessible to condo residents.

It would also incentivise condo management to implement charging points amid the growing number of EV drivers living in condos and provide access to GetGo’s shared EVs, the pair added.

Toh Ting Feng, chief executive and co-founder of GetGo, highlighted the growing demand for EV car sharing as Singapore’s transportation landscape evolves.

Singapore’s urban landscape is transforming amid changing attitudes toward car ownership by younger generations and the development of EV charging infrastructure, said both companies.

Goh Chee Kiong, chief executive of Charge+, also noted that the partnership would also cater to condo residents who do not own an EV but need a sustainable transportation option.

Citing a survey from The Straits Times published in 2022, the pair said fewer people here aspire to own a car due to high costs, public transport improvements, as well as the rise of convenient and sustainable transport options like car sharing.

Additionally, GetGo and Charge+ said they will continue to expand their car sharing and charging services to more condos across Singapore.

GetGo added that it will also launch a new feature by the fourth quarter of 2024. The feature gives onboarded condo developers a secured access to car sharing vehicles within their properties that are reserved for residents.

Developers with access to the shared EVs and charging points can also optimise their parking facilities and lot allocation by reducing the number of owned vehicles and carpark lots required, said both companies.
