THE Housing and Development Board (HDB) has completed a total of 87, or 94 per cent, of pandemic-delayed projects from October 2020 to end-August 2024.
It remains on track to deliver the remaining delayed projects “within the coming six months”, said Desmond Lee, minister for national development and minister-in-charge of social services integration, on Monday (Sep 2).
“The pandemic severely disrupted our building programme, and the construction delays have caused inconvenience to homebuyers and disrupted many of their life plans. Our HDB colleagues, consultants and contractors worked closely over the past few years to catch up on lost time to complete these delayed Build-To-Order (BTO) projects,” he noted.
HDB expects to complete about 18,000 flats across 24 projects in 2024.
The housing authority has completed about 10,500 flats across 15 projects in the year to date, of which 14 had been delayed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Concluded projects include the 353-unit Alkaff Breeze in June, making the Alkaff district the second one in Bidadari to be completed after Woodleigh.

Alkaff Breeze also marks the first HDB BTO project to be completed this year without delay. HDB said this achievement reflected a “steady recovery in the construction industry” following the pandemic.
About 290 households, representing 85 per cent of the 340 booked units at Alkaff Breeze, had collected their keys as at Aug 15.
Another notable project completed in the year to date is Tampines GreenGem, a 1,086-unit development across 13 residential blocks near the Tampines West MRT station.
Tampines GreenGem is the first housing project to be completed in Tampines South. The project incorporates several sustainable initiatives, such as separate chutes for recyclable waste as well as motion sensor-controlled smart energy-efficient lighting.
About 98 per cent or 1,014 households of the 1,036 booked units at this development had collected the keys to their new flats as at Aug 15.
