IIM Kashipur to host north India’s largest scholars’ conclave – Times of India



RUDRAPUR: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur is set to host north India’s largest scholars’ conclave, Management Education and Research (MERC), from May 31 to June 2. Over 300 scholars from premier institutions such as IITs, IIMs, JNU, AMU, BHU, and DU will present their work to compete for the best research paper awards.
MERC 2024 aims to promote research among doctorate students by providing a platform to present their work to peers and professionals.The event will also feature workshops on research methodology and panel discussions on interdisciplinary research and sustainability.
Professor Somnath Chatterjee, convenor of MERC, said, “We are extremely excited to host MERC, especially with the huge increase in the number of research projects. Last year, we received 300 applications. This year, the number surged to 720 this year while 300 of them are selected.”
The three best research papers will be awarded Rs 25,000, Rs 20,000, and Rs 15,000, respectively. Keynote speakers include Jai Advani, Managing Director of PwC India, and professors from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, and the University of Colorado Boulder, USA.
“With a significant 50-60% of the applicants being women, the event underscores the growing diversity in research. MERC’s theme focuses on making micro, small, and medium enterprises sustainable, covering a wide range of subjects such as Organisational Behavior and Human Resource (OBHR), IT, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Operations, Strategic Management, and Communication”, added Professor Chatterjee.
