In comparing the placement and higher education outcomes of IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee for their 4-year UG programs over three academic years, both institutes show notable progress. At IIT Bombay, 663 students graduated in 2020-21, with 500 placed at a median salary of ₹13.92 lakh and 163 opting for higher studies. This improved significantly by 2022-23, where 798 students graduated, 644 were placed at a median salary of ₹19.63 lakh, and 154 pursued higher education. Similarly, IIT Roorkee saw 768 graduates in 2020-21, with 624 placed at a median salary of ₹16.72 lakh and 144 opting for higher studies.
By 2022-23, the number of graduates increased to 911, with 733 securing placements at a median salary of ₹19.69 lakh and 178 choosing higher education. While both institutes showed an increase in graduates and placements, IIT Roorkee had a consistently higher number of graduates, though IIT Bombay offered slightly higher median salaries across the years. Additionally, IIT Roorkee had a more significant number of students placed in 2022-23, despite IIT Bombay’s higher salary figures. Both institutions also saw fluctuations in the number of students opting for higher studies, with Roorkee seeing an increase and Bombay showing slight variations.
