NEW DELHI: In the recently published NIRF 2024 rankings by the Ministry of Education, Lady Shri Ram College for Women, affiliated with Delhi University, has secured the 10th position, marking it as the top tenth college in the country.
Established in 1956, the college offers a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, primarily focused on the humanities and social sciences.As one of the most prestigious women’s colleges in India, LSR has long been a preferred choice for aspiring women scholars, renowned for its vibrant campus life and academic rigor.

Lady Shri Ram College for Women: Ranking in NIRF 2023 vs. 2024

In the NIRF 2023 rankings, Lady Shri Ram College for Women secured the 9th position, reflecting strong performance across various parameters. The college scored 62.08 in Teaching, Learning, and Resources (TLR), 25.49 in Research and Professional Practice (RPC), 95.30 in Graduation Outcomes (GO), 74.88 in Outreach and Inclusivity (OI), and 93.59 in Perception (PR). These scores indicate that while the college excelled in areas such as Graduation Outcomes and Perception, there was room for improvement in Research and Professional Practice.
In the NIRF 2024 Rankings, LSR dropped to the 10th rank, but the scores reflect a mix of changes. The TLR score slightly decreased to 60.27, suggesting a marginal dip in the quality of teaching and resources. However, there was a notable improvement in RPC, with the score increasing to 29.01, indicating enhanced research output and professional practice.
The GO score saw a slight decline to 93.87, while the OI score improved marginally to 75.59, highlighting a slight increase in inclusivity and outreach efforts. The most significant change was in Perception, where LSR achieved a perfect score of 100.00, reflecting an enhanced reputation and standing among peers and the public. Despite the drop in overall rank, the college showed progress in key areas, particularly in perception and research.

Understanding the CUET Exam
Admission to the BA, B.Sc, or B.Com programs at Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College, a prestigious institution under Delhi University, involves a systematic process that begins with the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and progresses through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal. Prospective students must first register for and appear in the CUET, a mandatory exam for undergraduate admissions.
The CUET is divided into three sections: Section I, which is language-based and further split into IA and IB, requires candidates to choose one language from a selection that includes Bengali, English, Hindi, and others. Section II covers 27 domain-specific subjects, from which candidates must select one based on their chosen program. Section III is a general test, and candidates need to select this section according to the requirements of their desired course.
CSAS – Counselling Process
Following the CUET, candidates seeking admission to LSR must apply via the CSAS portal. This process is divided into three distinct stages. In the first phase, eligible candidates must fill out the CSAS Application Form, which is available on the Delhi University admission portal (admission.uod.ac.in), and pay the applicable fee. An additional fee is required for those applying under the Extracurricular Activities (ECA) or Sports Quotas. The second phase begins after the CUET results are announced, and candidates can indicate their preferred courses and colleges.
In the final phase, seats are assigned based on the merit list, which is determined by CUET scores. Multiple rounds of seat allocation are carried out. Furthermore, if any seats remain vacant following the regular counselling process, as per recent UGC guidelines, the concerned university may admit students based on the previous qualifying exam score-based merit list.
