NIRF Rankings 2024: The Ministry of Education has released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 rankings, unveiling the top-performing universities in India. The much-anticipated rankings were announced on 12th August 2024, with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, securing its place as the best university in the country.This marks yet another achievement for IISc, which has consistently held a top spot in previous rankings.
New Categories and Future Plans
This year’s NIRF rankings introduced three new categories: Open Universities, Skill Universities, and State-Funded Government Universities. Additionally, during the announcement, AICTE chairperson Anil Sahasrabudhe revealed plans to introduce a ‘Sustainability Ranking’ category next year, reflecting the growing importance of environmental responsibility in higher education.
