MUMBAI: Even as the Directorate General of Health Services’ Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) asked all state admission authorities to share the data of candidates who joined their postgraduate medical college in all three admission rounds, aspirants in Maharashtra are still waiting for the state’s CET cell to conduct the third round of admissions. The MCC asked states to submit the data by 5 pm on February 11 to ensure that candidates holding seats in the state admission rounds are weeded out before starting the all-India stray vacancy round.
Parents and students in Maharashtra are in a state of confusion as the results of the third round are yet to be released, said parent Brijesh Sutaria. A CET cell official, however, said that they are awaiting a revised list of in-service candidates with the incentive marks from the directorate of health services.
Another court order passed a day before directed them to include one more candidate in the in-service list, so again the state sought an updated state-specific merit list from the National Board of Examinations for in-service candidates, said the official, adding that they cannot proceed with the admissions without the final list.
“If it was the earlier rounds we would have published the list of general candidates. But now the remaining seats of in-service candidates, if vacant, will be offered to regular candidates and there is no scope for upgradation. In-service candidates are also eligible for regular seats,” added the official. He said that the MCC schedule mentions that the last date for the third round is February 15, but they have asked for data on joined candidates by February 11.
