PRIME Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong will deliver Singapore’s Budget 2025 statement in Parliament on Feb 18.
The Budget Statement will be broadcast live on television and radio, and online at www.singaporebudget.gov.sg. It will be published in full on the website after delivery.
This will be PM Wong’s fourth time delivering the annual speech, as well as the first time since becoming prime minister last May. It will also be the last Budget before the next general election, which must take place before November 2025.
Cost-of-living issues, economic strategies, as well as training and jobs, are among the key themes for Budget 2025, PM Wong said during a press conference in November.
The government’s pre-Budget consultations will cover support for Singaporeans across different life stages – from those starting families, to those sandwiched between their children and elderly parents – and ways to strengthen solidarity as Singapore marks 60 years of independence next year.
Members of the public can continue to share their views and hopes for the Budget through Reach’s Budget 2025 microsite until Jan 12, 2025. There will also be a physical feedback gathering exercise on Jan 16, 2025, at One Raffles Place.
The annual Budget sets out the government’s revenue and spending estimates for the new financial year, which begins on Apr 1 and ends on Mar 31 the following year. It also includes revised government revenue and expenditure projections for the current financial year.
Parliament will debate the Budget Statement about a week after it is delivered, with the prime minister then making a round-up speech to address queries and feedback from Members of Parliament.
Parliament then sits as a Committee of Supply to examine each ministry’s spending plans.
