DUBAI-BASED Sunset Hospitality Group, through its hotels and resorts unit, is taking over the lease on Hotel Fort Canning Singapore, as part of its global expansion strategy.
The group is said to be leasing the space from Legends Fort Canning, an entity linked to Eng Wah Global, among other shareholders.
Eng Wah Global has businesses in the entertainment, property, hospitality and lifestyle sectors in Singapore and Malaysia. Its portfolio of brands includes WE Cinemas, 321 Clementi and The Legends Golf and Country Resort.
The Hotel Fort Canning transaction, which included the food and beverage restaurant units, was brokered by real estate services firm JLL.
As part of the deal, the hotel will be rebranded Mett Singapore by the third quarter of 2025, said Sunset Hospitality in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 16).
Located in a restored military building on the grounds of Fort Canning Park, the hotel will “undergo a full transformation” under the Mett Hotels & Resorts umbrella, said the group.

Tapping Sunset Hospitality’s dining and entertainment expertise, the rebranded hotel will provide guests with a selection of venues, ranging from restaurants to nightlife.
Antonio Gonzalez, chairman and group chief executive of Sunset Hospitality, said the group sees “immense potential” in Singapore and South Asia.
The latest deal comes some two months after Sunset Hospitality’s acquisition of Maximal Concepts, a global F&B group headquartered in Hong Kong. Some of the brands under its belt include Chinese restaurant Mott 32 and Japanese izakaya The Aubrey.
It also follows the opening of Sushisamba Singapore in Capital Tower in Robinson Road. The restaurant is operated by Sunset Hospitality and serves a fusion of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisines.
